U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken introduced the dying of his 96-year-old father Donald Blinken on Thursday evening, calling him “a supply of affection and inspiration” to his household.

Blinken introduced the dying from his private Twitter account whereas attending the annual U.N. Common Meeting in New York. His father handed away earlier that day within the Lengthy Island city of East Hampton, New York.

“Dad served his metropolis, state and nation,” Blinken wrote. “Dad impressed me to public service. He lived with decency, dignity and modesty.”
