Taliban governor of Afghanistan’s Balkh province killed in blast: police

KABUL: A blast tore by the Taliban governor’s workplace in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province on Thursday, killing him and two others, police mentioned.

“Immediately round 9am a blast befell contained in the second flooring of the governor’s workplace, because of the blast (governor) Mawlawi Mohammad Dawood Muzamil has been killed with two civilians,” mentioned Mohammed Asif Waziri, Balkh’s police spokesperson.

He mentioned police have been investigating and would offer extra particulars as soon as they turned clear.

The reason for the blast was not instantly recognized. The incident marks some of the senior officers confirmed lifeless because the Taliban took over the nation in 2021.

Daesh has claimed a collection of lethal assaults in Afghanistan in current months, some on civilian targets and others on Taliban safety forces.
